With the United States of America's Capitol building in the background, large SONY monitors allow participants of The Million Man March to view activities on main stage. A Muslim leader giving a call to prayer can be seen on one of the monitors. Christian clergy pray as well.
A newly estimated crowd of 800,00 to 1.1 million black men gather in Washington DC for a day of brotherhood, love, atonement and recommitment to their communities.
Close-up of men gathered in Washington to take stock of their lives and to proclaim their collective self-worth. Call it synergy. Call it inspiration. Whatever it was, this is clear: Something extremly powerful and extremely positive took hold.

Maya Angelou, Rosa Parks and Rev. Jesse Jackson were just a few of many famous people to speak during main program.
Kim Wade, and daughter watch activities. She told a reporter "I want everybody to know that the black man made way for the black woman to get right here in the front." .
Men raise dollars in the air to show economic strength contained in Black America. They are later asked to deposit the money in boxes, to help future causes.
Philadelphians C. Delores Tucker, Henry Nicholas, Renee Lucas-Wayne and men with "Brothery Luv"sign enjoy a long day. C. Delores Tucker sat on stage during speeches while Henry spoke earlier during the day. Renee, a Philadelphia Daily News reporter stood fourteen(14) hours while covering historic event.
Men gathered from many religious background felt united by one God. The sign tells this message well.

On October 3, 1995 Johnny Sample leads a pre-march rally at Hichman Temple A.M.E. Church , 50th and Baltimore Ave. in Philadelphia. Sample, a Philadelphia radio personality, is instrumental in getting busloads of men to attend Million Man March.
Philadelphia Muslims at Temple University rally weeks before The Million Man March . Women asked not to attend the march, were encouraged to organize, support, and promote it instead.
Members and supporters of The Philadelphia Local Organizing Committe (PLOC) stage a pre-march rally. Tee-shirts, baseball caps are being sold while Terry Johnson speaks atop a flatbed truck.
Prayer and Praise Rally takes place in Convention Center the night before Million Man March in Washington DC. Rev. Benjamin Chavis is on left with Betty Shabazz at microphone. Also seen is Washington DC mayor , Hon. Marion Barry, Jr. with his wife.
