It arrived last week and I haven't had time to fly it until today. Our local camera club took photographs of a two-day golf tournament which kept me busy in preparations. Also I needed for editing over 900 pictures from 9 photographers. That's my excuse. Well, today two of my fellow friends who just happen to be photographers found a location for liftoff. Since I read information from the Know Before You Fly organization, it was imperative to find a suitable and safe location. Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), or drones as they are often called, are increasingly available online and on store shelves. Prospective operators—from consumers to businesses—want to fly and fly safely, but many don’t realize that, just because you can easily acquire a UAS, doesn’t mean you can fly it anywhere, or for any purpose. “Know Before You Fly” is an educational campaign that provides prospective users with the information and guidance they need to fly safely and responsibly. Flying that quadcopter was a blast! Of course, I used the easiest method to control the aircraft. Taking still pictures and video was a snap, once I inserted the storage card properly. Above are images taken by Dennis McGeady and myself. Sometime around 1972 I lucked out and obtained my first job as a photojournalist at the Burlington County Times in New Jersey. My buddy, Jon Falk who posts to this blog probably knows the exact year. He may know because he gave me the job:) So after years as an amateur photographer, then a professional and now back to an amateur, I feel good. I feel good because with the quadcopter I feel like my photography is reaching new heights. LOL! More can be seen on my blog: Picture_This! //
