That's my Linux box, my pride and joy.  It's been getting louder and louder over the years.   I don't know if the fan is the culprit or not.  Tonight I turned it off to rearrange furniture.  For awhile it looked like I had lost all my files once I turned it  back on.  Being a bit computer savvy,  I noticed the operating system was coming up but my home directory wasn't registering.  For some reason I decided to upgrade the operating system.  That would install a new operating system while saving my files. It worked! The next thing I did was backup my important files to a DVD disc. You should backup your files frequently.  I was lucky enough to save mine, this time.
