I saw her at a party and I didn't  recognize her because of the weight loss.  She sent these pictures at least 6 months ago and has since lost even more pounds. Here's the story in her own words: "I started my weight-loss program in February 2012. I went to a weight-loss surgery seminar at Delmarva Bariatric Center in Salisbury. (http://www.delmarvabariatric.com/) After doing some more research and decided I wanted to have a gastric sleeve. Other surgeries available are the lapband and the gastric bypass. I did a 6 months doctor-supervised diet and some other tests as required by my insurance. The requirements vary from one insurance to another. In general patients with a BMI over 35 with some co-morbidity illness (high-blood pessure, diabetes, etc.) and over 40 without co-morbidity illnesses can qualify. I had my surgery on July 26 2012. So far I've lost 90 lbs. I went from a size 20 to a size 10. My BMI went from 43 down to 28. The surgeons there run a support program that include a staffed gym, monthly support group and nutrition class. They also have an office in Rehoboth Beach. So far , it has been quite an adventure! As you can imagine, it is a tool, not a magic wand It requires a lot of lifestyle changes and adjustments, beyond the physical ones. Not only have I improved my health and fitness but I've come out of my thick shell and allowed more people to see the "real" me that had been hiding underneath for most of my life." own
