My grandson now has "special" Legos, plastic building blocks for children. He had regular Lego with which he played visiting Nanu and Grandfather. What makes these special is they belong to a Lego WeDo kit. They can build things which have motors, motion detectors, and other electronics connected to a computer via a USB port. Something this special needs to be kept separate from crayon, baseballs, and other toys which get thrown into a big toy box. We build the two birds seen above which can be told to spin left or right from a program called Scratch. The directions to build the birds contain no words, just pictures, as children his age can't read. Smart, those Lego people.
