That isn't your typical cake cutting knife the Commandant is handling. The Marines celebrate their birthday every year on the 10th of November. The local Marine Corps League, like other around the world, celebrated their 237th Birthday Ball. The Marines were formed on November 10, 1775 but it was not until 1921 that the Corps began celebrating that day officially as its birthday.
