The phrase "out with the old and in with the new" doesn't describe our new wood floor.  Months ago we had damage to our floor from a spill upstairs, which flooded parts of downstairs.  We decided to "float" the new floor over the old floor. That is to not remove the old floor but place new floor over the top of it. Since our home is built on a concrete slab, with 2 layers of wood, the floor should be a little warmer now in cold weather. An added bonus: If home is sold sometime in the future, the new owner will have two floors , one Oak and the other, Mahogany.
