This is a new home under construction in my community. Once I was back home, editing the above picture, the amount of men working made me think. It made me think about the amount of jobs created and number of workers needed when a new house is built. Right now there seems to be around 5 homes going up, in different stages of completion. It feels good to see so many men working. To say the housing industry helps our economy is "hitting the nail on the head." New homes being built, older homes being sold or remodeled and repaired, rental properities, etc. help provide income for many people. Editors note: According to the NAHB, National Association of Home Builders, besides the "estimates of the people employed in actually building the structure. The impacts are broader than this, however, and extend to other industries as well. For example, jobs are generated in the industries that produce and distribute lumber, concrete, lighting fixtures, heating equipment and other products that go into a home. Additional jobs are generated for professionals such as architects, lawyers, lenders, real estate agents and others who provide services used by home builders". Now, I've seen too few Black men and no women in the construction crews. We'll talk about that later.
