I'm think that may be a female Mallard duck above.  She had a nest on the ground in some mulch which surrounded a tree on Canvas Back, a local street near me. I tried not to frighten her by moving slowly to get as close as possible.  I must have been as close as 5 feet before she flew away.  Then I retreated as I had made my pictures. She didn't fly far.
