Question: Yes, thank you, sir. What is your reaction to Alex Rodriguez's admission that he used steroids as a member of the Texas Rangers? Obama: You know, I think it's depressing news on top of what's been a flurry of depressing items when it comes to Major League Baseball. And if you're a fan of Major League Baseball, I think it -- it tarnishes an entire era, to some degree. And it's unfortunate, because I think there are a lot of ballplayers who played it straight. And, you know, the thing I'm probably most concerned about is the message it sends to our kids. What I'm pleased about is Major League Baseball seems to finally be taking this seriously, to recognize how big a problem this is for the sport, and that our kids hopefully are watching and saying, "You know what? There are no shortcuts, that when you try to take shortcuts, you may end up tarnishing your entire career, and that your integrity's not worth it." That's the message I hope is communicated. ----- ------- ---------- ------------- ------------ EXCUSE ME!~%^*#$%% --------- ------- ----------- --------------- What were the reporter and his colleagues from the Washington Post smoking before the president's press conference tonight? I'm sure those weasels set around some editorial board meeting and decided this was the question to ask? Maybe they felt they could blindside the president. Come on, he is much smarter than most journalists and his answer shows how quick he is on his feet. Newspapers on the whole are not faring well. After 30 plus years in the newspaper business I've come to the conclusion that some newspapers should not be here anyway. The Washington Post may be in that category. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel most citizens of the USA want their president to care about jobs, foreign policy, HEALTH CARE, the economy, and issues which determine our fate as a nation, not People Magazine and supermarket tabloid trivia. Translation: I don't give a flying @#$%& about Alex Rodriguez's admission. Is that going to give me or you a tax break? How about a mortgage? No, what about lower health care premiums? I didn't THINK so! Short message to The Washington Post. -- Ask questions of substance which have value for the nation. The coolest thing the president did tonight was take a question from The huffingtonost.com, the Internet Newspaper. He just made all those Internet news outlets legitimate and on par with The New York Times, CNN Everybody and her grandmother will be doing an analysis on the press conference. I'm not exempt. The President gets an A-. Why? He danced on two questions which can seen in the pictures above. Real change means truthfully answering those questions. John V. Santore wrote about Obama dodging the nuke question on The Huffington Post.
