Both my wife and I were offered a FREE confidential credit report by activating PrivacyGuard, a service of PNC Bank.  To get this, all we had to do was sign up for PrivacyGuard for the first month, RISK FREE. If we decided that PrivacyGuard wasn't for us then we would have to call during the month and cancel.  If we didn't call or forgot to call then $14.99 a month would be taken out of our bank accounts. My wife doesn't use profanity and always complains when I say a few off color words. Well, an offer like the one above from PNC Bank is more offensive than profanity to me.  I bet many will get suckered  because it seems like a free offer.  There will be some who feel they'll game PNC by getting credit report and then cancel during the first month, only to forget to cancel. The form to sign up only has a blank line for your signature and a place for the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number. Think about it.  Since I bank at PNC, the last 4 digits of my social # is enough to find my account number. How convenient, I don't even have to find my account number to fill in. PNC cares about me and  MY MONEY. So since I can't call up PNC Bank and curse those Maryland Farmers out I decided to file a complaint against them to the Federal Trade Commission.
