According to Wikipedia.com "A KVM switch (with KVM being an abbreviation for Keyboard, Video or Visual Display Unit, Mouse) is a hardware device that allows a user to control multiple computers from a single keyboard, video monitor and mouse." Translation:  I can use two computers setup to only need one mouse and a keyboard.  They are shared by the two computers. Question: Why do you need two computers let alone a KVM switch? Well, I use a Linux computer for most of my computer needs.  Online banking, e-mail, Internet and just about everything I do is on this computer.  I need the other computer to run WindowsXP-64.  This computer is super fast and I run Adobe Photoshop CS4 on it. This computer is not allowed to connect to the Internet, only the Linux computer. So now I have speed demon as my photography/imaging computer. Plus, I have a workhorse and my favorite Linux distribution in which I need not worry about viruses, spy-ware, freezes and other Windows-related ills. It is sweet when both computers are running to touch the switch and see Photoshop CS4. Then I can touch the switch and see my browser, Firefox, loading web pages on the same monitor from the other computer. KVM Switch Cost: A few dollars Value of empowerment: Priceless
