I've cross this bridge many times going from Bridgeville DE back to my old hangouts in New Jersey. About a couple of miles from bridge is a sign heralding a town named St. George DE.  So I assumed this was the St. George Bridge. Wrong! The St. George Bridge is the older ugly bridge seen a mile or two down river( the canal). No this is the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal Bridge. It's called a canal bridge because it spans the Chesapeake & Delaware canal.  The canal is one of only two commercially vital sea-level canals in the United States. The Chesapeake & Delaware Canal runs 14 miles long, 450 feet wide and 35 feet deep across Maryland and Delaware, connecting the Delaware River with the Chesapeake Bay and the Port of Baltimore. I like this bridge as when I cross it, I'm either halfway to where I'm going in Jersey or halfway home in Delaware.
