Margo is executing her back swing while driving the ball. She seldom goes to the driving range as me because she hates to practice. If I ask her to go with me, she usually finds an excuse. It's nothing for me to go 2 to 3 times a week. For the last month or so I've played on 9 holes on Tuesday with a group of guys. I talked Margo into going on the golf course today as I had some free games. We arrived early to hit a few practice  balls on the driving range. While noticing her swing I suggested she not take her club so far back during her back swing. To me it seemed reasonable to take a smaller swing and have better control than taking a huge swing and getting less control hitting the ball. She hit a nice drive after a bunch of ground balls and mis-hits. After that successful shot she wanted to leave on a high note. "OK" I said then we were off to play 9 holes. I was amazed at her performance on the golf course. She only lost 1 ball into the many water hazards. I lost 2. Her drives were basically straight and few rolled along the ground. She did a lot better than a lot of the women golfers that pass my house during the day. These ladies play frequently. Many are also new golfers. And on my advice to take a smaller back swing: BAD ADVICE They tell women the best advice when learning to play golf is to not listen to their husbands. After seeing Margo hit her 3 wood and other club such long distances I realized her power was coming from her long back swing. With such a large back swing the club face was picking up a lot of speed and power by the time it hit the ball. Many times her ball and mine were ending up in the same location. Evidently, Margo has a natural talent for golf. This has to be the case as she had par on the 7th hole. I was one over par on the same hole and she doesn't practice. This isn't fair :)
