One, two, three,...., Five, Six, Seven If you can count then you can salsa dance. Above is a picture I took of a Saturday salsa dance class. Margo, who used to be the best dancer in our family, finds dancing easy. She doesn't like to hear beginning dancers, as I once was, count while learning. Salsa music is very rhythmic with defined beats. You can feel the pulse of the music. Most things can be analyzed to aid in the understanding of them. That is, how they work. Good dancers see others dance and are able to imitate, modify and add to what they see. People like me need instructions. So one, two, three, ... , five, six, seven is the count teachers use to teach salsa in this area. There are 8 beats to a salsa basic pattern. You move your feet for the first three beats(1,2,3), rest one, move for three more beats(5,5,7) and rest the last beat. Repeat this pattern the entire song and you're doing salsa. It worked for me. Like I said earlier " Margo used to be the best dancer in our family". I don't want to brag, but.......
