Photography by Veronique Felix  This family group appeared at a party this past weekend.  This is not their publicity picture but one of the many portraits taken at the party. Left to right are Mary Downing, Benjamin and  Jamila Vaughan, plus Wayne and Margo Faircloth. During party planning I was asked to set up some camera equipment to allow portraits to be taken. Someone else would take the pictures while guests arrived and I'd be free to party. On the night of party I took a digital camera, electronic lights, tripod and remotes.  I also took a a simple crushed velvet background( for people to stand in front of) as I had never seen the inside of the fire hall. Since I didn't have anything to hold up a  8 x 12 ft background I went to Lowe's, the hardware store, to make something. I spent about $12.00 on PVC pipe and built a portable  stand to hold the background. So what happened? Well, I get to the fire hall and see that the room has a collapsible room divider.  That's one of those dividers used to re-sized a large room.  That's the background you see in the above picture. So I decided to use that instead of my "designer" background stand. Over the years I learned it pays to be prepared. Even though I didn't need my own background with "designer" stand I had the equipment just in case. Veronique, the photographer that night, did a professional looking job with the equipment I took.
