Photographic and video recording of every kind is prohibited during a performance. Camera flashes are a dangerous distraction to the actors onstage—they can break their concentration and momentarily impair their vision—while camera phones, digital cameras, and camcorders can be a supreme annoyance to other audience members. Plus, AEA rules stipulate that any unauthorized videotaping is against the law. Anyone who violates those rules may be removed from the theatre (in the best case scenario), or, perhaps, have their recording equipment confiscated (in the absolute worst case scenario). ----- ------------- ----------------- I managed to squeeze about a dozen frame off and I consider this one acceptable blog material. I used my little Canon PowerShot 450 without flash. No tripod was possible and it would have given my intentions away. Don't you think? I waited until the play was over and only while the cast was enjoying a extended applaud and ovation did I go to work. Not being able to put camera up to my eye I used the gunslinger approach. I shot from the hip. What show was this? It was a Broadway show call "Celia". The musical was about the character, life and love of Celia Cruz. Born in Havana Cuba, Celia wasn't able to return to the land she loved because of Fidel Castro. She snubbed him once during a show. He mother died while she was abroad and was not allowed to attend the funeral by Castro. Payback's a bitch. Excuse my French. Star of the show is Xiomara Laugart who is Cuban born singer and recording star. She just radiates on stage. Her voice and manners makes you think you're watching the late Celia Cruz.  A live orquestra, not playing Bach but kicking out Tito Puente and other greats. A great night for all. If you're in Nuevo York, head on over to New World Stages, 340 West 50th Street and catch the show. Tell'm Wayne sent you and don't mention the picture, paa-leezz.
