No, she's looking at the color or clarity of the wine. This was the first meeting of a new wine tasting club at Heritage Shores in Bridgeville DE. There were so many people in another club that a second was formed. A guy named Marty leads the clubs. Rightfully so, as he has spent almost 50 years in the wine business. His wife told me how well known people in Washington wouldn't have a party without thinking to get Marty's expertise involved. She mentioned Katherine Graham, one-time publisher of the Washington Post, among others. Besides tasting wines, the club also functions to educate members about wines.Tonight, we had 6 wines to taste. There were 3 white and 3 red wines. Marty gave guidelines to use when tasting and comparing wines. One of the first things to do is look at the wine and notice the clarity and color. You definitely don't want sediment floating around in it. Wine Country Getaways has a great site to explain the steps involved in wine tasting. Marty's steps are basically the same but he also pays attention to body and finish.
