http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wicket gives a great definition of a wicket. It states: Primarily, the wicket is one of the two sets of three stumps and two bails at either end of the pitch. The wicket is guarded by a batsman who, with his bat, attempts to prevent the ball from hitting the wicket. A diagram detailing all the measurements of a wicket can be found in Appendix A of the Laws of cricket [1]. The origin of the word is from the standard definition of wicket as a small gate. Historically, cricket wickets had only two stumps and one bail and looked like a gate. ----------- Above is action between the Echelon Cricket Club and the Ali Sports Club. The wicket is the the three stick-looking thing. OK, this is the second cricket picture this week. My excuse is I had a settlement on my new home in Delaware. That's my answer and I'm sticking wicket, excuse me, sticking with it.
